Sunday 25 January - Blót to Heimdallr (2:00 pm)
Please join us this Sunday, Jan 25th, at 2:00 p.m. for a blot to Heimdallr. Known also as "The Shining Ase", Heimdall is considered one of the most holy of the Aesir. He was born of the Nine Daughters of the Sea and is the progenitor of the three classes of man. He is the warder of the Bifrost Bridge and the guardian of the Gjallarhorn, which He will blow on the final day to warn of the Ragnarok. Animals associated with Heimdall are the ram and the seal, so things having do with these would be appropriate offerings, such as sheeps milk, grains and of course fish. Please note that the park is strictly alcohol-free when choosing your offering.
We will be holding the blot at the Reedy Creek entrance of Umstead State Park, between Durham and Raleigh, NC (take the Harrison Ave exit off of I40).
If you have any questions about the blot or the Hof, please contact us at email@example.com.

He probably wants some attention, and he needs some honoring now and again. Come join us as we give him his due.
A good offering for Loki is high-quality salmon. Other possibilities include spring water, honey water, honey, poetry, singing, and (this being Loki) verbal wit and jokes. Please note that the park does not allow alcohol.

Sunday 26 April - Blót to Idunn (2:00 pm)
Idhavelli Hof will be having its next blot on Sunday, April 26th, at Swanfire Hall. The blot will be in honor of the goddess Idun, bearer of the famous apples of youth. Idun's name means _renewal_, something we can all appreciate as Spring blooms around us.
We will gather at Swanfire Hall at 2:00, and go into ritual at 2:30. (Note that this is a little different from how we have scheduled things in the past.)
Suggested offerings to Idun include cider (hard or soft), mead, apple juice, spring water, poetry, and song (her husband is Bragi, so we know she definitely appreciates poetry!) Swanfire Hall is on private property, so alcohol is allowed.

Sunday 31 May - Blót to Odhinn, Tyr, and the einherjar (2:00 pm)
Idhavelli Hof's blot for May will be on Sunday, May 31st, at the Reedy Creek section of Umstead Park (where the local military folks go to jog). We will be honoring Odhinn, Tyr, and the einherjar, the dead warriors who feast and fight in Valhalla.
We will gather at 2:00 pm and begin the blot at 2:30. We'll have three rounds of toasts and offerings; the first, to Odhinn, Tyr, and the einherjar; the second, to all the Aesir and Vanir; the third round will be open. Also,if weather permits, we'll spend some time feasting in fellowship. Please bring a snack or drink to share!
Suggested offerings for Odhinn and Tyr include red nonalcoholic wine, beef, honey, coffee, sparkling fruit juice, and poetry (especially, in this case, war poetry). For the einherjar in general, one might offer red foods or drinks, honey, or spring water; for a specific ancestor, it would be most fitting to offer a food or beverage the person enjoyed in life. Please be aware that the park has a no-alcohol policy.
Directions to Umstead State Park can be found on our blóts page.

Sunday 30 August - Blót to Nerthus (2:00 pm)
Idhavelli Hof's August blot will be Sunday, August 30th, at 2:00 PM. We will meet at the R.L. Rigsbee Shelter in Duke Forest, between Hillsborough and Durham. We will have a potluck picnic afterward, so please bring something to share and/or for the grill.
Last year in August, the Hof gave blot to Nerthus, offering up Gifford, a breadman born of wood and blood, word and breath - named and gifted according to old tradition.
This year, we celebrate our bond with Nerthus. As as done over a thousand years ago, Nerthus shall go among us, bestowing her blessing. In return, we will give a portion of what we have harvested this year.
Please bring something you have made yourself. to be given to Nerthus in thanks for her blessing to the Hof. This can be food, biodegradeable or burnable craft items, home brew, poems or songs, or similar. Feel free to also bring offerings for others among the Germanic gods, the local wights, and/or the ancestors. After we blot to Nerthus, there will be time to blot to others.
If you have home brew and/or a special dish which you can bring, please bring it for the feast after the blot as well. Following the feast, we will sit at sumbl together, enjoying the mead that the Hof has brewed and bottled over the past few years.
If you have any questions about this blot, please contact Dan at email@example.com.

From the sacred waters of the Tree
Come three maidens deep in lore
One is Urd, the other Verdandi
They carve on wood
The third is Skuld
They lay down laws
They weave the fates of men's lives
They speak orlog
This blot is dedicated to the Norns: Urd, Verdandi and Skuld. Some say they represent what has happened, what is happening and what will happen.
We will have three rounds at this blot. The first round will be individual offerings to the Norns. Appropriate offerings include spring or well water, wool or any other natural fabric/fibers, honey, poetry, fruit or fruit juices. The second round will be a group weaving of wool to the Norns. Sunday 25 October - Blót to Freyja (2:00 pm)
Idhavelli Hof's October Blot will be Sunday, October 25, at RiverBend.
Our hosts for the blot are Katja and Roger. We will gather at 2:00 PM and blot at 2:30 PM. There will be a potluck after the blot, so please bring food and drink to share.
This blot is dedicated to Freyja, Lady Vanadis, Goddess of Love and all its gifts. She is the mistress of seidh, of magic,of subtle perception. She claims half the slain in battle, having first choice, and guides them to Her hall, Sessrumnir, which means "many seats" and is found in Folkvangr. With Her falcon-feathered cloak, She is able to fly through all the worlds. Freyja's necklace, Brisingamen, forged by four dwarves with whom She exchanged favors, is a symbol of Her numinous power and enchanting beauty. Goddess of desire, Hers is the eroticism of wild nature. She is twin for Freyr, who is also Her lover on occasion. Animals especially sacred to Freyja include the cat and sow, as well as the falcon, and cuckoo.
Appropriate offerings to Freyja include sweet mead; flowers; amber; gold; poetry (especially original and romantic) dedications to helping cats; wild creatures, and the natural environment; amber essential oil; spring or well water, especially from the Northern lands; and anything which touches your own heart.
Please note: RiverBend is privately owned land. We will be able to have alcoholic libations. Idhavelli Hof thanks Katja and Roger for their hospitality and for hosting this blot.
For directions to RiverBend, please contact Katja at: email@example.com

Sunday 22 November - Blót to the Ancestors, the Wights, and Those Who Go Before Us (2:00 pm)
I remember the names of my ancestors. I speak the names of those I love.
I speak their names and they live again. May I be so well-loved and remembered.
In truth, may the gods hear my name.
